Homeda oxido de zinc en polvo is a single-ingredient, non-nano zinc oxide powder for people who make their own skincare. The particles are larger than nano grades, so they sit on the surface rather than absorbing in. That is also why they leave a white cast, which is normal for an uncoated mineral and not a fault. Shade and texture shift slightly between lots for the same reason. Because it is uncoated, it needs a little handling. Sift it first, disperse it into the oil phase rather than water, and blend while the base is still warm. A mini frother works better than a spoon. Done that way it stays smooth instead of clumping. Home formulators generally work between 5% and 25% of total batch weight, weighed rather than spooned, since zinc is dense. Below 15% coverage thins out; above 20% the mix turns thick and chalky and stops spreading well. It goes into crema, lotion base, balms, barras labiales, jabon, pomada, unguento, calamine-style lotion, nappy rash pasta, deodorant bars, tinted mineral face powder and bloqueador solar.
